Feed your face with a heaping helping of our new Oatmeal & Honey Dry Botanical Masque. We start out with white kaolin clay, the gentlest of all the clays. Because it’s suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin and has a gentle draw with just the right amount of oil absorbency, it’s a very good option for a simple, non-irritating cleansing and refining masque. With a very fine texture, mixing with wet ingredients, allows for a creamy and smooth paste consistency that spreads easily.
We then add oatmeal powder and honey powder to increase the soothing nature of this masque. To this, we toss in buttermilk powder for its richness and the lactic acid, a gentle natural alpha hydroxy that sloughs off old skin cells which can contribute to dryness and dullness. For good measure, we then include powdered botanicals – aloe vera leaf, hibiscus leaf, rosehips, hibiscus flower, chamomile flower and lavender flowers. The result is a deliciously nourishing and gentle soothing masque that helps clean, brighten and soften skin beautifully.
The beauty of a dry masque is your can totally customize it to your skin’s needs with the wetting agent of choice. A few you may consider are: Plain yogurt, regular or herbal tea, aloe juice, milk or cream, egg yolk, egg white or whole egg, pureed fruit, witch hazel, water, hydrosol, fixed oil or combinations of any of these. Want a little more “scrub” with your masque? No problem. You can add your own exfoliant to a “serving” of dry masque mix before adding your wetting agent to have your own customized scrub & masque combo. I recommend no more than a 1:1 ratio of dry masque to exfoliant ratio for best results.
