If you’ve ever read a Neos Skin Care product label or the product ingredients lists on the website, you probably know I use soy oil and/or soy protein in some of our handcrafted beauty products.

Someone recently asked me, “Why do you use soy oil in your products?  Don’t people use that for frying and salad dressings?  I think I even heard that it’s being used for bio-fuel and things like that.  It’s just kinda gross if you ask me.”  This couldn’t be farther from the truth.

I’ve had others tell me they were afraid to even sample Neos Skin Care products because they had “female issues” and had been told to avoid anything with soy because of possible hormonal implications. I understand their concern and it is true that some do need to avoid eating or drinking soy for various reasons. such as allergies But external use is a whole different arena of use altogether.

Today, let’s just take a moment to look at soy from a skin care and beauty aspect.  I think you’ll be amazed!

What is it?

Soy oil is extracted from the fruit/bean of the soy plant, which means it’s a natural vegetable oil.  Light in color, texture and weight, soy oil is an excellent choice for including in massage and body oils, facial products, lotions, creams and soaps.  It’s an advocate for your skin that absorbs readily, offers moisturizing and feels delicious on the skin.

What is it good for?

Soy oil is full of anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities and has anti-aging effects on the skin.  Containing high concentrations of vitamin E, lecithin, omega 3 & 6 fatty acids, phytosterols and isoflavones, it neutralizes free radicals, stimulates collagen and increases skin’s elasticity, firmness and thickness.

One unique benefit of SBO is that it inhibits matrix metallo-proteinases, the enzymes that break down the proteins that support skin’s layering.  In layman’s terms, it strengthens skin and helps prevent the effects of aging on a molecular level from the inside out.

What’s more, soy evens out skin tone and texture, reduces skin discoloration, lightens age spots, and in many cases reverses sun damage.

It’s a “Smart” moisturizer

Oh! Oh! Oh!  You have got to check this out! Soy oil is a “smart” moisturizer.  HUH?  Yes, that’s right.  It “reads” your skin needs, reducing oiliness where needed while moisturizing dryness where needed, making it excellent for all skin types.

Yeah, it’s that good!

So you get softer, younger, fresher, more beautiful and resilient looking skin with more even skin tone, texture and moisturizing and noticeable improvement with repeated use.  Yes please!

With all of this skin adoration, my question is “Why wouldn’t I want to use soy oil in Neos Skin Care products?”
